Availability
Both insurance carriers offer car insurance in all states such as Florida, California, North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, New York, etc. However, Allstate can be used by anyone, but the same cannot be said for USAA. USAA offers discount car insurance for military personnel. If you are not an active or retired military personnel, then you can’t use USAA. The only way to get around this is if you have family members who served in the army.
Emergency Roadside services
With roadside assistance, you can get help with towing, lockouts, tire changes, jump-starts, and fuel delivery.
Allstate is rich in roadside assistance features. To get roadside assistance services you can join the Allstate Motor Club. This club is available to everyone. With the Roadside Advantage plan, you will pay $52 for your first-year membership. With the Platinum Elite plan, you will pay $99 for your first-year membership. You can also use their Good Hands Rescue. This is a pay-per-use service. Only pay for this service when you need emergency assistance. You don’t have to be an Allstate Policyholder to enjoy the benefits of Good Hands Rescue. Lastly, with Allstate you can add additional roadside assistance coverage at a low cost.
USAA allows you to add Towing and Labor onto your insurance policy.
Mobile app comparison
The USAA app handles everything. The app allows you to easily manage your finances, investments, insurance, and much more. The USAA app features an in-app assistant to help you with any questions that you might have. The app helps to report claims, get roadside assistance, get an ID card, accident checklist, and more.
The Allstate mobile app offers more features than the average insurance app. Features with this app include QuickFoto Claim, Good Hands Rescue, Drivewise, viewing your policy documents, Instant Agent Access, managing claims, gas finders, parking reminders, and more.
Bottom Line
USAA and Allstate are popular insurance options. They both do a great job with offering insurance discounts for their customers. If you don’t have veterans in your family or if you are not a veteran, then you can’t use USAA which is a huge drawback for most. Allstate is open to everyone, but it doesn’t measure up with USAA in the claims and customer complaint comparison. Allstate excels in the mobile app comparison and in the roadside assistance comparison. I recommend getting insurance quotes today to see how much that you can save.
